I take photos with a priority of capturing the elegance of light. Light is what creates photographs and being able to capture it in different ways is never ending and special. Differences in lighting have an influence on every aspect of an image. I strive to create images that have subtle beauty. I feel that form, texture and quality of light have the largest impact on visual quality. In my creation of photography, this is defined as attempting to isolate one or few aspects of an image and strengthen them. I desire to invoke the feeling of being drawn in and held by an image; the comfort of visual enjoyment looking at a photo beyond just a glance.
Some might think that photography is a simple art. To me, the opposite is the truth. This deception is what makes photography special in my eyes. Finding beauty is something the photographer does while the camera captures it. Photography is about discovery. It's the combination of frustration that comes with failed attempts and the unexpected joy that comes with the success of others. This is what inspires me. Photography is the most confusing mix of so much control and no control at all. This sense of confusion leads to an exploration that can create beauty.
